We feel more compassion with dogs than humans.

To some this is not a suprise. Generally people tend to have more compassion with dogs than humans.

In a study 240 people, or test subjects, was shown the same story of an violent assault. But with four different victims:
1. 1-year old baby
2. 30 year old male
3. Puppy
4. Six year old dog

After being shown the story, the 240 test subjects had to express their feelings about the victim. The result was that we feel more compassion with
1. Puppy
2. Baby
3. Six year old dog
4. The 30 year old man

And why is that we feel more compassion with other animals than our own species?
The 240 test subjects said that they viewed the dogs not as another species, but as a baby with fur, and a familymember.

Also it's no surprise that most people, especially dogs owners, feels that dogs gives friendship, love and faithfulness, without requireing anything back but the same from you. Whereas humans tends to cheat, manipulate and be selfcentered. No wonder humans prefer dogs, mans best friend.
